Hi! My name is Ava Price and I am a senior in high school. I love to dance, and ballet has been a constant in my life as I moved around the country and attended four different schools. I feel at home when I am dancing, and, at the same time, even just moving across the stage speaks to my sense of adventure. While, in past summers, I participated in intensive ballet programs around the country, this year, I was lucky enough to attend the Programme on European Union Foreign Policy at the SciencesPo in Paris. The experience changed my life. I realized how much I wanted to continue to be around other students who are as passionate about learning as I am. We lost track of time discussing issues from class over dinner and sometimes late into the night. Together, the friendships I made and the quality of the professors, as well as the dynamic environment allowed me to grow as a thinker and expand my view of what is possible in my life. As much as I love to dance and hope to continue ballet, I think of it as a wonderful hobby. I have to admit that, deep down, I am a nerd! I love to read, attend classes and lectures, and listen to talks. I plan to study history, international relations, and global policy in college and then pursue either a degree in international law or in international studies for graduate school. My dream is to one day work for the United Nations and help to improve the lives of others around the world in the best interest of our global community.
I had courses at the Sciences Po with classmates from all over the world.
This website is part of my research on child labor and international investment in Senegal, for instance, by such institutions as Citibank, which claim to have a strong social justice agenda. I began working on this project as a self-designed independent study course in my junior year with my mentor, Dr. Gabriel Fuchs, and am currently finishing a research paper on the topic which I plan to submit to The Journal of Student Research.
